What is the technical difference between transgender and transexual?
AnonymousThe “technical” difference between transgender and transsexual is that a transsexual person wishes to alter their body with hormone therapy and/or surgeries to be similar to that of a cis-person. However, many of the trans* community would rather not get technical.
But the term “transsexual” is less used than the term “transgender”. The word transgender is an umbrella term for all those who feel that their gender(in the mind) does not “match” their biological sex(between the legs). So the word transgender is more commonly used to describe people who wish to alter their bodies and for those who don’t.
